Saturation measurement technology

The oximeter measures the oxygen saturation of the blood using two light beams with light in the red and infrared light spectra. The probes illuminate the capillaries at the fingertip and evaluate oxygen saturation (SpO2) and heart rate. Saturation is given as a percentage of the maximum amount of oxygen that the blood can bind.

In healthy individuals, the standard SpO2 value is between 96% and 99%. Age, high altitude, physical condition and other factors can reduce this normal value, as can acute illness. SpO2 measurement is important not only during medical examinations, but also during sports training or wellness activities.
